Challenge #2
In your own space, talk about your fannish origin story. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Whether you've been in fandom for a while or just discovered fandom, we'd love to know how you came to fandom! Was it that one book or a TV show or movie or anime/manga or a band/song that gave you that first spark? Or a character or characters that you wanted more of but the canon material just didn't have enough of them? Or were you introduced to fandom by someone?
I got my start back when dedicated websites for individual fandoms and pairings were the norm, reading Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanfiction. Ah, the Mellon Chronicles! The Snupin Santa Exchange! Those were the days.
My first fannish account was created on Fanfiktion.de, where I was active in anime fandoms until I migrated first to fanfiction.net and then to ao3 (after witnessing a power tripping mod bully someone off the site one time too many).
During the hype of Thor and the first Avengers movie, I joined tumblr, and a whole world opened up! It was the first time I felt properly part of a fandom, and I have always remained fond of the Thorki and Frostiron ships, despite waning interest in the MCU. We've recently established a tiny Frostiron community using tumblr's brand new community feature. I've come full circle in this way :)
