Bigots and puritans will continue to attack us, but people who share a love for something will find each other, no matter where or how.
I am hoping that Dreamwidth can be one such place where that happens ❤️

I am reccing three of my all-time favourite fanfics from different fandoms. I tried to have some variety in tone and length.


1)The first is a Voltron fic, Run Boy Run by GoldenTruth813.

It is a Sheith bodyguard AU. I don’t usually like AUs that much, but the author hasn’t let me down so I gave this one a chance and it paid off. It’s so much fun, going all-in for some cliché tropes, and putting so much life, so much nuance into the characters and the world, adding depth and sincerity to a fun ride.


2)The second is a Zhen Hun/Guardian fic, Secret Identities and Friends that Keep Them by MeridianGrimm .

It’s a humorous story that explores the relationship between Shen Wei and a Da Qing who hasn’t lost his memories of Ye Olde Haixing, as they try to keep secrets from the SID. Featuring hilarious cat antics and identity shenanigans.


3)The third is a Mo Dao Zu Shi fic, love, in fire and blood by cicer.

It’s a Wangxian arranged marriage AU, with lots of misunderstandings and wrong assumptions about the fearsome Yiling Laozu. Also featuring dubcon. It ticks a lot of my boxes :)
The author included some magnificent memes at the end of each chapter, a nice light-hearted contrast to the heavier tones of the fic.

I skipped some challenges, but I actually did #7 and commented on some fics I read. Did not feel worthy of its own post though. Anyway, on to #9!

Challenge #9

In your own space, celebrate a personal win from the past year: it can be a list of fanworks you're especially proud of, time you spent in the community, a quality or skill you cultivated in yourself, something you generally feel went well. I have a fandom related and a personal thing I did last year.

1) I joined dreamwidth! I want to be more active in fandom communities and actually talk to people. I know it’s objectively not the most difficult thing to make a free account on a website. But I have a hard time coming out of my shell, so I’m proud of every little bit.

2) I took my boyfriend on a trip to Paris. I don’t travel often and this was actually the first vacation I planned and organized all by myself. So I was irrationally scared something would go wrong lol. Also my French is bad and rusty and I was scared it wouldn’t be good enough. But everything went great! Got Tintin merch out of it too.

Challenge #4:

If you got the opportunity to add one thing to the canon of any of your fandoms, what would that be? Maybe there’s a character who didn’t get much of a backstory/storyline and you’d like to do something with them, maybe a show was axed too soon and you had thoughts on what could happen in a subsequent season, maybe there’s a new episode you’d like to have added.


I'm not sure how well this fits the challenge, but I would like the Fire Emblem games to just drop the gender barriers.

Let me pick a class regardless of my character's gender.
We got so close in Fates (only DLC classes are gender-locked), then took it all back for Three Houses.
Where are my male Pegasus knights? My female dark mages?

Let the Avatars marry whoever. The romantic dialogue & events are already in the game - just let us have it! Let me marry Dimitri as Mleth
