autodachI finished part 3 of Mo Du.
In this part I actually enjoyed the characters and relationships more than the criminal investigation.
My favourite scene was right at the start: Luo Wenzhou covering Fei Du's eyes to shield him from the violent video message.
I’m getting strong autistic vibes from Xiao Haiyang, to put it mildly. It feels realistic that his autistic traits can be either an asset or a problem depending on the situation.
I WAS on to something last time with the "Fei Du didn't change anything in his father's office"!
He left the office as is - but he changed the house back to how it was before his mother died. Undoing his father’s changes. Also he refers to his father as The Man and his mother as The Woman. Daddy Fei really fucked him up.
Also that basement is REALLY fucked up, but I don’t quite get what exactly the purpose is.
Fei Du considers himself to be a psychopath (is he, though? Doubt it). So he tries to make himself feel empathy for others by… giving himself PTSD (???)
So now he faints at the sight of blood on top of whatever issues he’s trying to cure. Great success.
Main Couple get their first kiss in this part! And we jump straight to breath control kink, huh. Nice.
Then there’s this bit:
“Fei Du, if I didn’t have a reason, didn’t have any logic, if I’d only said, ‘I trust you,’ what would you have done?”
Fei Du froze. Then the corners of his eyes curved craftily, and he purposefully lowered his voice.
“I’d be very moved, wanting nothing better than to go down on one knee at your feet.”
“Less of that fucking nonsense.”
Luo Wenzhou leaned back.
“You’d only have thought I was either stupid or lying.”
Fei Du smiled, but he didn’t refute him.
This exchange is great. They value each other for their intelligence. See an equal in each other. Actively refuse the idea of blind trust.
Part 3 does not have anything approaching a satisfying ending. I wonder to what extend the case will continue in part 4.
