Snowflake Challenge Day 9 (and 7)

I skipped some challenges, but I actually did #7 and commented on some fics I read. Did not feel worthy of its own post though. Anyway, on to #9!
Challenge #9
In your own space, celebrate a personal win from the past year: it can be a list of fanworks you're especially proud of, time you spent in the community, a quality or skill you cultivated in yourself, something you generally feel went well. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I have a fandom related and a personal thing I did last year.
1) I joined dreamwidth! I want to be more active in fandom communities and actually talk to people. I know it’s objectively not the most difficult thing to make a free account on a website. But I have a hard time coming out of my shell, so I’m proud of every little bit.
2) I took my boyfriend on a trip to Paris. I don’t travel often and this was actually the first vacation I planned and organized all by myself. So I was irrationally scared something would go wrong lol. Also my French is bad and rusty and I was scared it wouldn’t be good enough. But everything went great! Got Tintin merch out of it too.
Welcome!

Some things that might help:
*
*
*
*
* Watch for Three Weeks for Dreamwidth April 25-May 15. It's another big event where you could make new friends.
* Some communities are general-purpose and good for chatting. Others have a much narrower focus and only do fic recs or icons or whatever. Check the bio page and any sticky posts to see which are which -- often it will specify somewhere.

Making an account is easy. Maintaining it over time is more challenging.
Some folks find it helpful to set recurring posts to boost activity. These can be general things like a weekly update, or specific based on your favorite topics.
